We searched for candidates of neutral heavy lepton (NHL) production in a sample of 2.6 million neutrino interactions in the Columbia-Chicago-Fermilab-Rochester (CCFR) neutrino detector. No evidence for a NHL was found in the charged current density channel, NHL[r arrow][mu][sup [minus]]+[ital X]. A NHL with mass between 0.5 and 3.0 GeV/c[sup 2] has been excluded (at 90% CL) for couplings to muons between 1[times]10[sup [minus]2] and 1[plus minus]10[sup [minus]4] of the Fermi strength, depending on the NHL mass. The results of a search for a neutral heavy particle decaying via the neutral channel are also discussed.
