We present a formulation of an ..cap alpha..-model accretion disk which includes the effects of self-gravitation, radiation pressure, and variable opacity source. The heating is assumed due to turbulent stresses in a differentially rotating, massive disk. The results are compared with previous work, and it is shown that earlier studies did not properly include the effects of the disk mass on vertical structure. These models should more properly represent the structure of the accretion region around massive black holes in galactic nuclei. A discussion of consequences for Seyfert I/II galaxies and for the Milky Way nuclear region is included.
