Neutral hydrogen clouds in the anticenter and inner direction of the Galaxy that are infalling with very high velocities were observed with the Arecibo telescope./sup 1/ In the anticenter, we find direct evidence for the collision of a very high velocity cloud (V/sub GSR/ = -210 km s/sup -1/) with Milky Way material. The observations indicate that a complex of very high velocity clouds has reached the outer Galaxy and, at its closer angular distance from the galactic plane, is interacting with matter associated with the disk. The infall of a single cloud deposits a typical energy of 5 x 10/sup 52/ ergs on a small region of the galactic disk. The complete complex would transfer an energy of 10/sup 53/--10/sup 54/ ergs. The phenomena that may result from galactic accretion of neutral hydrogen clouds are discussed.
