The relative probabilities of the decays phi..--> mu../sup +/..mu../sup -/ and phi..--> pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ have been measured on the basis of the interference pattern in the energy dependence of the cross sections for the reactions e/sup +/e/sup -/..--> mu../sup +/..mu../sup -/ and e/sup +/e/sup -/..--> pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ in the region of the phi meson. The probability B(phi..--> mu mu..) is in agreement with the known value B(phi..-->..ee). We have measured for the first time the probability B(phi..--> pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/) = (1.9/sup +1.0//sub -0.8/)x10/sup -4/. The interference effect observed in the ee..--> pi pi.. channel (the amplitude of the interference is Q/sub ..pi../ = 0.121 +- 0.028) is nonzero by more than four standard deviations. The phase of the interference is psi/sub ..pi../ = -40 +- 13 deg.
