Study of the reactions (/sup 6/Li,/sup 8/B) and (/sup 7/Li,/sup 8/B) in light nuclei

The reactions /sup 12/C(/sup 6/Li,/sup 8/B)/sup 10/Be ,/sup 6/Li(/sup 6/Li,/sup 8/B)/sup 4/H, /sup 12/C(/sup 7/Li,/sup 8/B)/sup 11/Be, and /sup 9/Be(/sup 7/Li,/sup 8/B)/sup 8/He have been studied at energies E/sub 6Li/ = 72 MeV and E/sub 7Li/ = 83 MeV at angles theta/sub lab/ = 10 and 12/sup 0/. The differential cross sections for the first two reactions are approx.10 ..mu..b/sr, and for /sup 9/Be(/sup 7/Li,/sup 8/B)/sup 8/He they do not exceed 0.1 ..mu..b/sr. An excited state of /sup 8/He with E* = 2.6 +- 0.2 MeV is observed. It is suggested that the spin and parity of this level are 2/sup +/.
