cap alpha. -particle D-state effects in (d,. cap alpha. ) reactions

It is shown that the tensor analyzing powers for (d,..cap alpha..) reactions are sensitive to the D-state component in the ..cap alpha..-particle wave function. The D to S-state asymptotic ratio extracted from T/sub 20/ and T/sub 22/ data in J = L +- 1 transitions is discussed using an ..cap alpha..-particle D state generated with the Jackson and Riska model.
