Browsing in an information repository
- New Jersey Inst. of Technology, Newark, NJ (United States)
TEXPROS is an intelligent document processing and retrieval system, which supports storing, extracting, classifying, categorizing, retrieving and browsing enterprise information. This paper presents a browsing mechanism which enables users to obtain multiple views for searching, presenting and analyzing information stored in the information repository. A graphical interface, employing context preservation and navigation techniques, is built to assist users in browsing through the information repository during the retrieval process. Given a user`s request, the system presents to the user an operation network, which offers an intuitive environment for browsing. An automated network construction greatly reduces the retrieval time. Using the network, the user could conduct an entire navigation process effectively for gaining incrementally more knowledge about the information repository before issuing a query.
