Study of corrosion and its control in aluminum solar collectors. Quarterly progress report, June 1, 1977--August 31, 1977

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5012719
The corrosion behavior of aluminum in both pure and contaminated propylene glycol solution has been studied. A literature search was completed for suitable corrosion inhibitors which are compatible with the ethylene glycol solution and also provide effective protection to all the metals used in an aluminum solar collector system. A number of aluminum corrosion experiments with aqueous ethylene glycol solutions were performed at higher temperatures than previously used. A circulation panel was developed to simulate an actual collector operation. (MHR)
