Authors' reply. [Sulfur standards in Maine]

Journal Article · · J. Air Pollut. Control Assoc.; (United States)
In rebuttal to ''Comment: sulfur standards in the state of Maine,'' S.S. Butcher and D.W. Dixon (authors of ''An approach to setting a sulfur standard for coal''; the article to which the comment was addressed), point out that their paper was a proposed method designed to assess the impact of widespread conversion of small combustion sources from oil to coal. They also note in the summary of their article that the approach should not replace detailed modeling, particularly in those cases where a small number of large sources affect ambient air quality. Because the major portion of the comment by LeBlanc and Thompson is concerned with an application for coal conversion at relatively large point sources, the authors of the reply state they have difficulty commenting on the criticism.
