Direct muon transfer to helium from excited muonic hydrogen with principal quantum number [ital n]=2, 3, 4, and 5 is considered in a quasiclassical approximation. Reaction rates turn out to be [similar to]10[sup 11]--10[sup 12] s[sup [minus]1] and should be taken into account when considering the cascade of excited muonic hydrogen in hydrogen-helium mixtures.
