Oil well treatment

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5003752
A well treatment method is described to obtain a higher permeability ratio of oil to water in the producing formation, consolidate sand, prevent clay swelling, and control paraffin deposition. These objects are achieved by introduction into the well tubing and surrounding formation chemicals which react in situ to render the formation relatively more permeable to oil than water, consolidate sand formations, modify the surface of clay to prevent swelling when contacted with water, and control paraffin deposition. An amine and an isocyanate are injected to react in situ in the well formation or well tubing to form urea or polyurea. (14 claims)
