Firefloods blossom in north Louisiana

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)

An important segment of North Louisiana's future production may come from 2 oil fields which have been producing small amounts of oil for 40 yr. Three fireflooding projects at Bellevue and 4 at Caddo-Pine Is. are working to release the trapped 200 million bbl of oil remaining in the fields. Pilot tests prove the Bellevue production could increase 40% or more. Tabular data show the active Nacatoch firefloods in Louisiana. These data include the name of the company, lease, depth, lithology, formation and fluid data, and other project data. The biggest fireflood is that of Getty Oil Co. who instituted Louisiana's first fireflood in the Bellevue field in 1963. One project is underway in the Caddo-Pine Is. field, another is almost ready to ignite and a third is starting preliminary work.
