Interaction of a short-wave laser beam with a plasma

Collisional dissipation, which results in a heating of the bulk of the electrons, becomes much more important when a plasma is heated by the fourth harmonic of the beam from a neodymium laser. The electrons in the corona of the laser plasma retain their two-temperature distribution. The spectral characteristics of the light which is specularly reflected by the plasma near the fundamental frequency of the pump beam are studied. The dynamics of the second-harmonic generation is studied.
