The partial substitution of Pd for Ni in NiTi high temperature shape memory alloys has been found to increase the martensite-to-austenite transformation temperature, while minor additions of B increase tensile ductility and formability. Transformation forces are presently measured as a function of temperature during the heating of deformed wires of this type, giving attention to the influence of Ti-level variations about stoichiometry on the shape-memory behavior and the tensile properties of these alloys. 15 references.
