From the zero-field-cooled and field-cooled ac magnetic susceptibility measurements of bulk ceramic YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub {ital y}} (YBCCO) high-{ital T}{sub {ital c}} superconductors, a low-field irreversibility line has been found which lies very close to {ital H}{sub {ital cl}}({ital T}) in the {ital H}-{ital T} plane as a result of a strong flux trapping. Although both the real and imaginary parts of the ac magnetic susceptibility in these ceramic samples are very sensitive to the ac field amplitude, no significant irreversible behavior could be observed in the absence of a dc magnetic field. By measuring the ac susceptibilities at constant temperature as a function of dc and ac fields, our results exhibit clear evidence for the existence of a field near {ital H}{sub {ital cl}} that demarcates the transition from a reversible to an irreversible (hysteretic) behavior.
