Measurement of the differential cross section for elastic proton deuteron scattering at 10.00 MeV

Due to the large discrepancies in reported elastic pd data at about 10 MeV proton energy, an experiment to check the absolute cross section scale was performed. In contrast to earlier measurements using gas targets, an alternative method was used in the present experiment. Polyethylene foils with different contents of deuterium relative to hydrogen were used. The elastic pd cross section was measured relative to the pp cross section. The results are in good agreement with the results from some of the earlier measurements. (auth)
