From conference on internal friction and ultrasonic attenuation in crystalline solids; Aachen, F. R. Germany (27 Aug 1973). Internal friction peaks obtained for five metals (Mo, Fr, Zr, Ti, Ni) are interpreted in terms of Nowick's theories. The split interstitial in Ni does not give rise to any peak, but if an impurity is in the neighborhood, one peak appears. For the other metals, examples of frozen free split'' are given.
