Liquid hydrogen ultrasonic bubble chamber (in Russian)

Tracks of negative pion are obtained in a liquid hydrogen ultrasonic bubble chamber (USBC) when exciting the ultrasonic field of plane standing waves with a system of two compound emitters of 38.4 kHz frequency, the liquid hydrogen temperature being 27 deg K, and the overpressure 0.35 bar. The standing wave field is considered with the account of ultrasonic absoeption in the working volume of USBC. The field calculations and the estimates of absorption, induced by the bubbles of produced tracks, are presented. The influence of the parasitic boiling (cavitation) on the emitter surfaces on the ultrasonic field formation in USBC, is discussed. (auth)
