Relationship between the spherical shell model and the deformed Hartree-- Fock model for nuclei
A definition of the spherical sheil model Hamiltonian is given for nuclei in which the Hartree-Fock field is deformed; this defition is consistent with the usual phenomenological parameirization. Calculated single particle energies in an individual particle Model and in a shell model with residual interaction are presented. A new approach to describing deformation effects in the spherical shell model is presented in terms of the deformation of the Hartree- Fock field. A comparison is shown between the results of projected unrestricted Hartree-Fock calculations and the new deformation-renormalized spherical shell model. A shapedependent'' effective interaction for the spherical shell model is suggested. (auth)
