Thesis. Submitted to Bochum Univ. (West Germany). As the dielectronic recombination processes at high temperatures can be best observed in the x-ray region, the weak x-ray spectra of neon, fluorine, and oxygen were investigated between 13 and 22 A by means of a Bragg spectrometer with a KAP crystal (2d = 26.62 A) on a linear theta pinch. By examining the intensity history and the resonance and satellite lines it was confirmed that, at least in the late discharging phase, the satellite lines are mainly due to ions that have dielectronically recombined. To determine the size and the behavior of the recombination coefficients, the behavior of the intensity ratio of resonance to satellite lines was examined, depending on electron temperature and nuclear charge for the cases: I(1s/sup 2/ /sup 1/S-1s2p/sup 1/P)/I(1s/sup 2 / 2s /sup 2/S- 1s2s2p /sup 2/P) and I(1s/sup 2/ /sup 1/S- 1s2p /sup 1/P)/I(1s/sup 2/2p /sup 2/P - - 1s2p /sup 2/D). These were fluorine, and oxygen. There is good agreement between theory and experiment for small main quantum numbers (n = 2), however, the beginning of a systematic deviation with fluorine shows that with neon (and indications with fluorine). there is no further thermal equilibrium of the auto- ionization states with the continuum. The Burgess calculated auto-ionization probabilities are too large. In the spectra, a number of lines not previously observed nor identified could be seen and partly classified. (GE)
