Measurements have been made of the concentration of /sup 137/Cs in meat from important meat producing animals in Norway. During the spring of 1971, gamma spectrographic measurements of 105 meat samples from various parts of the country were carried out at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment. The animals from which the samples were taken were all slaughtered during February- March. The content of /sup 137/Cs was in the case of pig, cattle, and horsemeat at the same level as in the years 1960 to 1962. In reindeer-meat, the concentration of /sup 137/Cs has been constant since 1966. Compared with the last 3 years' spring measurements, the concentration of /sup 137/Cs in mutton shows a slight decrease. The amount of /sup 137/Cs in goat meat is the lowest ever recorded at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment. (auth)
