Use of sodium polyphosphate as a corrosion inhibitor in the secondary cooling water circuits of DIDO and PLUTO reactors

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4932807
A brief review is presented of the use of sodium polyphosphate as a corrosion inhibitor and details are given of laboratory tests and plant trials on the secondary cooling-water circuits of DIDO and PLUTU reactors. It was confirmed that the corrosion rate of mild steel was reduced, but the treatment was discontinued because of fouling of the stainless-steel heat-exchangers by ferric phosphate. (auth)
