What`s new in geophysics and seismic-related operations

Journal Article · · World Oil
OSTI ID:49294
The key to successful exploration and development in today`s industry is becoming more dependent on advances in seismic and geophysical technology. New exploration technology is making quality seismic acquisition more efficient tat lower costs. 3-D seismic technology has also established a niche in the production arena and is helping to better characterize producing reservoirs. A general cross section of seismic and geophysical technology will be discussed by several authors. This collection of article provides information from several companies describing leading-edge technology used in the industry today. Topics include reservoir visualization and characterization, seismic acquisition and processing, software applications, data management, acquisition projects and deepwater geohazard detection. Contributing companies are Texaco, Anadarko Petroleum, Fairfield, Geco-Prakla, Opseis, SAPET Development Peru, PetroSystems (CGG), PGS, Western Geophysical, Ifremer and Elf Aquitaine.
