The gaseous emissions emitted from the combustion of coal-water slurry fuel prepared from the blend of 15% effluent recovered coal and 85% plant coal is being analyzed. The coal-water slurry fuel is fired in a combustion test facility (CTF) at Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) at three different firing rates, excess oxygen level and varying burner settings. The flue gas emissions data collected are analyzed considering the effect of varying firing rates and burner settings on the emissions of NO{sub x}, SO{sub 2}, CO{sub 2} and O{sub 2}. It is observed that the NOx emissions increased with the increase in firing rates. Since sulfur dioxide emissions are independent of the combustion parameters, SO{sub 2} emissions did not have any significant effect o n the firing rates or burner settings. The presence of water in the coal-water slurry fuel lowers the temperatures in the combustion chamber thereby reducing the NOx emissions.
