Electromagnetic interaction in the Bonnor-Moffat-Boal unified field theory

Journal Article · · Physical Review. D, Particles Fields
Recently Moffat and Boal proposed a unified field theory of electromagnetism and gravitation. The theory is based on a nonsymmetric tensor field g/sub mu//sub nu/. The field equations of the theory are identical to those proposed by Bonnor some years ago in a modification of Einstein's unified field theory, but Moffat and Boal interpret the field g/sub mu//sub nu/ in a different way from Bonnor and represent particles by singularities of a particular type. Using a fast-motion approximation procedure, it is shown that charged particles in the new theory interact in the lowest nontrivial order of approximation through the complete laws of classical electrodynamics: Maxwell's equations for the electric and magnetic fields, the Lorentz force, and the radiation-reaction force acting on the particles.
