AMINES IN LIQUID-LIQUID EXTRACTION OF RARE-EARTH ELEMENTS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4842962
The efficiencies of several amines in the liquid-liquid solvent extraction of rare earth and Y solutions are compared. Favorable results are obtained using sulfate solutions, but extraction from chloride, nitrate, and perchlorate solutions is negligible. Distribution coefficients and separation factors are found for rare earths and Y. The most effective separations are obtained with the amines Primene 8l-R, Primene JM-T, and N-benzylheptadecylamine. Effects of pH, types oi amines and organic diluents used, and amine and rare earth solution concentrations are determined. (T.F.H.)
