Research progress in nuclear science and technology is reported. The O/ sup 18/(p,n) F/sup 18/ threshold energy was measured using the 5-Mev Van de Graaff as a source of protons and the 2-m electrostatic analyzer for absolute calibration of the proton energy. The differential cross sections for the ground state and flrst exdited state alpha particles from the Li/sup 7/(t, alpha )He/sup 6/ reactions were measured as functions of the angle of emission and the bombarding energy. The differential cross sections for the Li/sup 6/(t,d)Li/sup 7/ and B/sup 10/(t,d)B/sup 1/< s1>s reactions were studied. The cross sections for the C/sup 12/(t, alpha )B/sup 11/ reactions leaving B/sup 11/ in the ground state and first excited state were determined. Angular correlations in the reaction B/sup 10/(He/sup 3/,p gamma )C/sup 12/ were investigated. The angular correlations between the first excited state alpha particles from the C/sup 13/ (He/sup 3/, alpha y gamma reaction and the subsequent 4.43-Mev gamma rays were studied as functions of the angles of emission. The cluster model expansion of nuclear wave functions is described. A selective signal detector was developed for measuring low-level, radioactive, alrborne contamination. This continuous monitor is capable of detecting 10/sup -11/ mu c/cc in a radon background of 10/ sup -1/ /sup 0/ mu c/cc. (M.C.G.)
