NEGATIVE PION-PROTON ELASTIC SCATTERING AT 1.51, 2.01, AND 2.53 Bev/c OUTSIDE THE DIFFRACTION PEAK

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
Differential elastic scattering cross sections for negative pi mesons on protons were measured for incident pi /sup -/ momenta at 1.51, 2.01, and 2.53 Bev/c with emphasis on the angular region outside the diffraction peak. Behavior of the large angle differential elastic cross section was examined as a function of energy from the energy of the highest known resonance in the pi /sup -/-N system into the region in which the total cross sections appear to be approaching an asymptotic value.
