$mu$-MESON CAPTURE AND DECAY

Assuming that mu meson capture proceeds by the reaction mu /sup -/ + p yields n + nu , the angular correlations and polarizations of the recoil neutrons in Mg, C, and H are studied. The effects of the final energy level of the capturing nucleus are examined. The experimental capture and decay results are compared with the predictions of the V-A theory. A study is made of the products ( pi /sup 0/ + n) or ( gamma + n) from the pi /sup -/-p interaction. Analysis of the electron pairs produced by gamma internal conversion and pi / sup 0/ decay yields information as to the pi /sup 0/ parity and mass. (T.F.H.)
