Measurements of the internal conversion electron spectrum of Tl/sup 195/ yielded conversion lines of the following new gamma transitions in Hg/sup 19>/: 225.8 (Ml), 242.1 (Ml), 247.3 (Ml + E2?), 279.2 (Ml), 562, and 883 kev. The half life of Tl/sup 195/ was measured to be 1.16 plus or minus 0.05 h. A study of the low-energy part of the conversion electron spectrum of Hg/sup 195/m revealed conversion electron lines of a new 16.20 kev Ml transition, converted in mercury. In this spectrum indications were found also of a new 53.3 kev transition of E2 character. All sources were electromagnetically mass separated. From the combined information, obtained in the measurements on the two decays, the following level sequence in Hg/sup 195/ is proposed: ground state (1/2--), 37.16 kev (3/2--), 53.4 kev of levels in odd mass mercury isotopes is discussed briefly.
