PRODUCTION OF LIGHT PULSES OF NANO-SECOND RISE TIME AND DURATION BY MEANS OF GAS-DISCHARGE TUBES
Short light pulses of rise time 3 x 10/sup -9/ s can be produced by a simple circuit arrangement containing commercially available gas-discharge tubes (thyratron tubes type 2050, voltage-stabilizer tubes type VR150). These pulses are of sufficient intensity to be displayed directly on cathode-ray tubes, using high-gain photomultipliers, without the help of amplifiers. (auth)
