A QUALITATIVE STUDY ON AN EXPLODING WIRE FUSE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4840476

A study of an exploding wire fuse was undertaken in an effort to develop basic concepts of normal operating fuse criteria that will apply to capacitor energy storage systems. Topics covered include exploding wire characteristics, fusing action and capacitor bank compatibility, methods of heat dissipation for a fuse during normal operation, and methods to determine repetition rate boundaries.
