THE THEORY OF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY IN THE TAMM-DANCOFF APPROXIMATION

The Tamm-Dancoff approximation is applied to the interaction Hamiltonian used in the Bogoliubov theory of superconductivity. It is shown that essentially the same compensating equation as obtained by Bogoliubov results from either the requirement thnt no virtual production of electron-hole pairs occurs without phonons, or the requirement that the electron-phonon coupling parameter tends to zero.
