IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO DEVICES FOR PRODUCING DISCONTINUOUS ROTARY MOVEMENT

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4839058

A device of the piston, helicoidal groove, and pin type is designed for transforming alternating rectilinear movements into discontinuous rotary movements. The device comprises a cylinder, a piston movable in the cylinder, an intermediate sleeve between the cylinder and piston, and means for connecting the sleeve to and for disconnecting it from the cylinder, the groove/pin system being carried by the piston/sleeve system. In the operation of the device, the sleeve is connected to the cylinder during the outward movement of the piston and disconnected therefrom during the return movement of the piston, thus producing an onoff rotation in one direction of the splined shaft attached to the piston.
