THE 1962 INSTITUTE OF METALS LECTURE ON SPECIFIC FEATURES OF STRENGTHENED METALS

Journal Article · · Trans. Met. Soc. AIME
OSTI ID:4838731

A review is given on some investigations of the influence of fine structure of metals and alloys upon their resistance to plastic deformation. The fine structure and hardness of quenched steels, role of microstrains in strength of metals, microstrains as indicators of the mechanical properties of crystals in microregions, influence of grain substructure and properties of crystals upon strength, strengthening by neutron irradiation, and strengthening two-phase Fe - C alloys by cold working are discussed.
