After a short survey on the essential theoretical relationships, the characteristic features of the Geneva 28-Bev proton synchrotron are described. The simultaneous cofunctioning of the various parts of the installation are described in detail. The solutions found at CERN for the annular magnet and its current supply as well as the highfrequency acceleration system are explained and some of the operation experiences made so far discussed.
