BS>The Jdanov relationship for track density dN/dR = 3C/2d (where dN/dR is the track density, C is the volumetric fraction of AgBr, and d is the grain diameter) was expanded to consider the probability of grains not being developable. This probability is considered as a function of the diameter, and it was supposed that the sensitivity for a given type of emulsion was independent of the grain diameter. The relation obtalned for the track density and grain diameter gives a curve with the same general form obtained experimentally. The graln diameter of G5 emulsions was measured by the alpha irradiation of emulsions containing more gelatine than normal. (J.S.R.)
