STUDY AND COMPARISON BETWEEN NECROLYTIC AND RADIOLYTIC LESIONS AT THE MITOCHONDRIA LEVEL (LYSOSOMES) IN ASEPTICAL PERFUSED BEEF HEART MUSCLE. First 8 Months Progress Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4835217
Beef heart homogenate was prepared in which the acid hydrolases were completely bound to sedimentable particles. The activities of beta-glucronidase, acid phosphatase, and cathepsins in the homogenate were shown to be nil. In other research, procedures for fractionation of beef heart homogenate were developed, and the catheptic activity of beef heart mitochondria was examined. It was concluded from research results that irradiation with x rays does not denature the catheptic enzyme inside its particle. Data on enzyme activities, centrifugal beef heart fractionation, and enzyme distribution are included. (J.R.D.)
