A method for processing irradiated Al-U or Al-Pu alloys consists of heating the alloys in a vacuum with ZnCl/sub 2/ at 1000 deg C or with cryolite at 800 to 1000 deg C. The greater part of the aluminum sublimes as a halide, while a substantial part of the fission products is likewise eliminated. (NPO)
