Effect of Free Radicals on the Proton Resonance of Irradiated Polymers

Journal Article · · Journal of the Physical Society of Japan
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1143/JPSJ.17.581· OSTI ID:4834087
Effects of trapped radicals on the proton magnetic resonance in irradiated polymers were studied by examining changes in the resonance line shape and in the spin-lattice relaxation time (T1) in polyethylene. Measurements were performed at l6 Mc, and T1 was determined by saturation. Materials were irradiated by Co60 gamma in a vacuum at room temperature. Line shape and concentration of free radicals trapped in the materials were determined by electron paramagnetic spin resonance. (L.N.N.)
