DIFFERENTIAL ANALYZER STUDIES OF DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF GAS LUBRICATED RIGID VERTICAL ROTORS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4833865

S>A study was made of the motion of a vertical rotor with prescribed initial conditions using fluid film forces based on steady whirl analysis. The calculated motion of the to verify the validity of the hypothesis which was employed to calculate the fluid film forces. The stability of the synchronous whirl motion was examined. The effects of damping and coupling terms on the stability of synchronous whirl were studied. The dynamical equations of the rotor were integrated on the PACE differential analyzer. (M.C.G.)
