A method is glven for productlon of beryllium tubing with good ductility at right angles to the extrusion direction. The method comprlses boring out a central hole in an extruded beryllium rod to form a blllet, and then extruding the billet to give a reduction in cross-sectional area of not more than l5 to 1. The billet may conveniently be extruded to form a tube of the same internal diameter as that of the billet, but of reduced external diameter. This method results in a considerable saving in material as compared with boring out a rod without subsequent extrugion. (D.L.C.)
