FUEL ELEMENTS FOR NUCLEAR REACTORS

A core element is designed for high-temperature gascooled reactors. The core element comprises an impermeable tubular graphite container, a graphite rod located axially in the container by means of flanges, and graphite sleeves loosely stacked in each annular recess defined between adjacent pairs of flanges, the sleeves also containing small amounts of fissile and fertile material.
