THERMAL AND RESONANCE FISSION-PRODUCT POISONING FOR U$sup 235$ SYSTEMS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4831546
A generalized analysis is presented of fission-product poisoning. The analysis generates values for thermal, resonance, and total fission-product poisoning as a function of the energy cutoff of the thermal group, Ec; the energy cutoff of the resonance group, E'c; moderator temperature, T; special index, beta gamma = SIGMA /sub a/(kT)& SIGMA s; and fractional fuel depletion, beta . The results are presented in terms of a fission-product 2200 m/sec absorption cross section and fission-product resonance integral. It is thus possible to predict correctly the thermal, resonance, and total fissionproduct poisoning, throughout core life, in a form convenient for integration with any arbitrary few- group depletion scheme.
