FLAME DENITRATION AND REDUCTION OF URANIUM NITRATE TO URANIUM DIOXIDE
Patent
·
OSTI ID:4830549
A process is given for converting uranyl nitrate solution to uranium dioxide. The process comprises spraying fine droplets of aqueous uranyl nitrate solution into a hightemperature hydrocarbon flame, said flame being deficient in oxygen approximately 30%, retaining the feed in the flame for a sufficient length of time to reduce the nitrate to the dioxide, and recovering uranium dioxide.
