THE USE OF IONIZATION CHAMBERS FOR HEALTH PHYSICS SURVEY OF THE BNL 3 Bev PROTON-SYNCHROTRON (thesis)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4830335
An investigation was made of the capabilities and limitations of ionization chambers for measuring radiation dose at the BNL proton-synchrotron in terms of the Roentgen Equivalent Physical. Such problems as instrumentation, calibration, energy dependence, and saturation are discussed and both theoretical and experimental results are given. Special emphasis was placed on depth-dose studies in a tissue-equivalent phantom. (C.H.)
