Tritium counting with a Windowless Gas Flow Counter

Journal Article · · Nippon Nogeikagaku Kaishi (Journal of the Agricultural Chemical Society of Japan)
The radioactivity of H3-compounds was measured at infinite thickness by using a filter paper disc. The tritiated sample was put on a filter paper disc (1.9 cm diameter), which was dried under an infrared lamp, placed in the center of an iron planchet (5 sq cm), and counted with a windowless gas flow counter. Using this paper disc method good proportionality between the total radioactivity of added H3-adenosine (0--1.0 mg/sq cm), < 0.3 ml/disc) and the actual count was demonstrated. Counting error was within plus or minus 10% at an efficiency of about 0.3% of the total disintegrations.
