The motion of the nuclei of the moderating medium plays an important role for solving problems involving thermal reactors. This medlum is considered as having only scattering and no absorbing properties. An infinite space filled with 2 monatomic gases which do not react with each other and which are heated to dlfferent temperatures is considered. Near a mixture of heavy gases the neutron spectrum follows a Maxwellian distribution determined by the average temperature, the average logarithmic energy loss, and the macroscopic scattering cross section. It is shown that even in the case of light scattering nuclei, kept at different temperatures, the neutron spectrum presents a Maxwellian distribution. (TTT)
