EFFECTIVE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS AT THE SURFACE OF A FLAT, PERIODIC LATTICE (in Russian)

The introduction of absorbing rods into the reactor core or the reflector represents one of the usual reactor control methods. While determining the efficiency of such systems, it is often desirable to disregard their heterogeneous character, ascribing an effective grayness'' value to the control units and using this value as an index of the average neutron field at points far removed from the absorbing lattice. This problem was mathematically solved for the case of an unlimited, flat lattice of absorbing plates having infinite lengths, considering the plates as black''. The lattice was considered immersed into a homogeneous infinite, isotropically scattering field in which external sources create a stationary field of monoenergetic neutrons, considering the medium as being nonabsorbing. Solution of the equations yields a q/sub o/ value, corresponding to a homogeneous gray'' plate with a given transparency''. Results of the appioximate calculation do not deviate from the precise values by more than 0.5%. (TTT)
