HIGH PRESSURE REACTOR (in German)

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4829464

The invention concerns a gas-cooled high-pressure reactor with radial coolant channels along the axis of the reactor. The coolant channels also admit the fuel elements. Neutron economy is thereby improved since a completely equal charge of all fuel 1 foi- all coolant channels, equal charge of all fuel elements, a similar neutron flux for all coolant channels, and a good adjustability through the fuel elements are obtained. High thermal efficiency and good fuel burn-up are also effected. ln a spherical or cylindrical moderator with a given arrangement of fuel channels, the moderator properties vary as a function of distance from the midpoint or central axis, so neutron erior layer. Different moderator materials, moderator densities, or concentrations of moderator mixtures could be present in the individual layers. (J.S.R.)
